Battle for Baltimore Looming

March 20th, 2019 General News | East Carolina | George Washington | Liberty | Northeastern | Oregon | Pittsburgh | Virginia Tech

BALTIMORE – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the premier non-varsity league in the country, will be descending on Bel Air, Md., from March 22-24 for the annual Battle for Baltimore.

This fourth installment of the Battle for Baltimore will feature seven teams from three difference conferences, including three teams currently ranked in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll.

The John Carroll School will be the site of this year’s event with the schedule available below.

“The John Carroll School provides an excellent platform,” said Virginia Tech coach Tim O’Brien, who has organized the event. “Not only are the school's facilities of the highest quality, but, being an MIAA school, it is one of the most competitive high school lacrosse leagues in the nation. It provides a direct connection between the MCLA teams involved and young men preparing to start their collegiate search process.”

The 2019 Battle for Baltimore will feature its first West Coast team as Oregon makes the cross-country flight. The Ducks will be joined by No. 8 Liberty, No. 11 Virginia Tech, No. 21 Northeastern, East Carolina, George Washington and Pittsburgh.

“We hope that this event can become an avenue for young lacrosse players to communicate directly, in person, with the coaching staff of a school that they have an interest in,” continued O’Brien. “Further, playing in front of these lacrosse fans will not only start to enhance the overall event experience, but hopefully continue to entice more MCLA teams to join.”

The event is free of charge.
