Georgia Tech Leads SELC Div. I Honors

ATLANTA – After rolling to the league championship, Georgia Tech took four of the five major awards in Division I of the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference while also placing four players on the all-conference first team.

Yellow Jacket senior goalie Matthew Sommerfeldt was named the Defensive Player of the Year, senior Holland Frost was named the Specialty Player of the Year, freshman attackman Tim Peterson was named Rookie of the Year and Ken Lovic took home Coach of the Year accolades.

Liberty senior attackman Ryan Miller was named the Offensive Player of the Year and was one of three flames on the first team all-conference squad. Central Florida had a pair of players on the first team while Tennessee, Miami, Georgia and Virginia Tech were also recognized.

Georgia Tech defeated Virginia Tech, 12-5 to win the SELC Division I championship and earn an automatic berth in the 2016 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour. The seeding and brackets for nationals will be announced on Sunday, May 1.
